Photographs and films created by Erik Thallaug for Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs)
For over a decade, I worked on assignments for Plan International Norway, a humanitarian aid organization dedicated to driving change to advance children’s rights and equality for girls.
This is a video that I recently created using previously shot footage. During this visit to Liberia, I met Fatou, her sisters, and their grandmother. Fatou, the youngest sibling, was six years old when I visited this family. On this media tour for Plan International Norway, my role was both shooting still photos and to make videos, in connection with Elvebakken High School students raising funds for the construction of schools and other Humanitarian Aid and Development Aid projects in Liberia.
This video was filmed by me and edited by Sherpa Film. During this journey, I was responsible for both still photography and video. The guitar music and song is a recording of a man I met at one of the places we stayed.
During a visit to Ghana, with Norwegian rock star Magnus Grønneberg along as endorser, we had the privilege of meeting Esther and her family. We conducted interviews with them, documented their daily life, and captured the challenges Esther faces. My primary role was as still photographer, but I also recorded some 'behind-the-scenes' video during breaks.
